Video compatible formats.

There are three main video formats in use around the world, called PAL, NTSC and SECAM. In order to play a video, both the video or DVD player AND the TV must be able to use the compatible format. Some players and some TV sets may be able to display two or three formats. Please check your user manual for more information.

Our videos are available in the PAL format, which is in use in Britain, many European countries, Australia and New Zealand.

List of countries which use the PAL video format:

PAL Afghanistan, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, Germany, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lesotho, Liberia, Luxembourg, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mozambique, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Portugal, Qatar, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe           

A number of countries use the SECAM system, but most video players and TVs in these countries are able to play PAL tapes or DVDs. Please check that your equipment is compatible with the PAL format.

PAL Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Benin, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Burundi, Chad, Congo, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, French Guyana, Gabon, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guyana Republic, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Madagascar, Mali, Martinique, Mauritania, Mauritius, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, New Caledonia, Niger, Russia, Saint Pierre, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Syria, Tahiti, Togo, Tunisia, Ukraine, Zaire  

The USA, Canada, Japan and a number of other countries use the NTSC format. This is not compatible with the PAL format and NTSC players will not play PAL videos or DVDs. We may be able to supply videos or DVDs in this format, but you should contact us before ordering.
